Obituary of JoAnn Gabardine

JoAnn "Grandma Jo" Gabardine, 84, of Laurel Springs, N.J., passed away suddenly, at her home on Sunday, February 23, 2014.. JoAnn was born and raised in Columbus, Nebraska the daughter of Pauline Bogus & John Laska. Her marriage to the late Eugene Gabardine lasted 27 years until his passing on August 26th, 1997 which in her eyes was a match made in heaven. She is survived by her (3) daughters; Mary Jo McCullough, Carol O'Keefe, & Jeannie Thatcher, 13 grand children, and 2 great grand children. JoAnn lived in several states up and down the east coast before settling down in Ocean Pines, Maryland. She loved working in the retail sales industry and continued to do so until she was 82 years young. She enjoyed many things in life but her passions were the Catholic Church and gardening. She was proud to be the first female usher at St. Luke's Church and was constantly overwhelmed by the joy it gave her. She was a devoted CCD teacher and loved sharing her faith with the all of the children she had the pleasure to teach. She also thoroughly enjoyed her garden and the sense of life it gave her including the flowers, vegetables, and wildlife. Memorial gifts may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish Lindenwold, NJ 08021. Knight Funeral Home of Berlin is in charge of arrangements. The viewing is scheduled for 9:15 to 10:00 a.m. Our Lady of Guadalupe on Warwick Road in Stratford NJ; the funeral mass will follow at 10:00 a.m.
