Obituary of Benard H Hehl

BENARD W. HEHL With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Bernard “Bernie” Hehl, 71, of Stratford, NJ. He unexpectedly passed away on December 4, 2024, in the workplace at Selectron Solutions LCC in Marlton, NJ, where he had been an employee for several years. Bernard was born in the Cooper Hospital in Camden on March 10, 1953, and the oldest son of Ernest Hehl Jr. and Doris L. Stelzner-Hehl. He was a resident of Camden County his entire life. He attended Laurel Springs Elementary School and later attended Camden Co. Vocational and Technical Schools, Pennsauken Campus, where he completed a four-year course in the Electronics Shop and graduated in the Class of 1971. Bernard worked in the television and computer repair service for his entire career. Until recently, he was an avid metal detector enthusiast who assisted in developing Sunray Stealth X5 and other metal detectors. However, his most outstanding achievement happened in 1982 when Bernard won the 14th Kirschner Heavyweight Ski Championships at Sugarloaf Mountain, Carrabassett Valley, Maine. In his twenties, he acquired many trophies in attaining this goal, which began on Ski Mountain in nearby Pine Hill. He is survived by his mother, Doris Hehl, in Jensen Beach, Florida; an uncle, Robert Stelzner (Billie) of Henrico, VA; brother, John Hehl (Sandy) of Beattyville, KY; sister, Elizabeth Morningstar (Clyde) in Huntingdon Co., PA; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; several Hehl cousins in NJ and many good friends in and out of the workplace. Funeral arrangements were made by Knight Funeral Home, Berlin, NJ. Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. May he rest in peace.
