Obituary: In Loving Memory of Joan Carmel Batten Joan Carmel Batten, 75, of Cedar Brook, NJ passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 11th, 2024 at Samaritan Hospice, Voorhees, NJ surrounded by her loving family. The youngest of ten, Joan was born in her childhood home in West Berlin, NJ. Growing up there, she met her husband George, marking the beginning of a storybook romance that eventually led them to Cedar Brook, NJ, where they raised their own family Joan was deeply devoted to her family, dedicating herself to ensuring her children received unconditional love and inspiring them to achieve their lifelong goals. No matter the circumstances, she consistently prioritized her family above all else. Joan was known for her humility and kindness. She never sought recognition and quietly performed philanthropic acts without ever revealing them. Though soft-spoken, her voice conveyed powerful messages of her unwavering faith. It was this faith that gave her the strength to navigate life's challenges with resilience. Joan fought bravely against cancer, never backing down even as the struggles increased. She remained steadfast, her strength shining through during this difficult time. Joan did not succumb to cancer as it was her love for her husband that led her peacefully home to the Lord. Nine days apart from him was just too long for her to bear. While Joan cherished being at home with her family, she particularly enjoyed her trips to Florida to visit her niece Phyllis. Their special bond was a source of immense joy for Joan. Joan will be forever known for her legendary cream puffs. Everyone anticipated her arrival at events, eagerly awaiting the chance to taste these delightful treats. Daughter of the late Mario and Elizabeth ( nee Renzi ) Caporelli. Beloved wife of 54 years to the late George Batten, Sr. Preceded in death by her brothers, Alfonso “Funzi” and Peter Caporelli and sisters Carmella “Millie “ Dahdah and Theresa Phillips. Loving mother of Danielle Batten ( John ) and George Batten, Jr ( Stephanie ). Dear sister of brothers Joseph and Anthony Caporelli and sisters Palma Williams, Dolores Stevens, and Maryann Dugan. Also, survived by her sister in laws and many nieces and nephews. Joan Carmel Batten will be remembered for her deep love and commitment to her family. Her remarkable strength will continue to inspire and uplift all who were honored to know her. Visitation will be held Thursday July 18, 2024 from 9am till 11am followed by the Mass of Christian burial at 11am at St. Simon Stock Parish/Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Campus 178 white Horse Pike, Berlin, NJ 08009. Inurnment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Samaritan Hospice or St. Simon Stock Parish in memory of Joan.
