Went home to be with the Lord on July 3, 2023 age 77years of Atco, NJ.

Predeceased by her parents, husband Stephen, and niece Alice. Dottie was born March 18, 1946 in Philadelphia, PA to George and Hildegard James.

Survived by two loving and devoted children, son Stephen and daughter Melissa Roesly, MD ( Donald Keir, MD ), three cherished grandchildren, Adam, Anelise, Joseph, also her only sister Rosalie Shoemaker, two nephews James and Kenneth.

In 1967 Dottie married Stephen and moved to NJ. She was widowed at the young age of 31. Dot was very responsible , smart and strong with a determination to support and raise her kids well. She then decided to put herself through college starting at Camden County Community College then onto Rutgers Camden to receive a Bachelors Degree and Masters Degree in Social Work. Dottie worked as a hospital discharge planner also in a nursing home. Her career changed to being a case manager for children in foster care where she made a lot of lifelong friends.

Dottie's greatest enjoyment was spending time with her grandkids and being near the ocean. She got a thrill playing slot machines at Bally's in AC also being on the beach or boardwalk but the best times of her life were spent with family in Ocean City, NJ. She was an extremely dedicated daughter who cared for her parents until their passing. Dot continued her legacy of family loyalty with her children and grandchildren. Gammy showed up for every event and family gatherings even while suffering with COPD. She bravely pushed through without complaining until the very end.

She will be forever loved and sadly missed.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 11, 10:30am at the Knight Funeral Home where family and friends may call 9:30am. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
