Obituary of Adele A. Knight

Please share a memory of Adele to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
When in doubt and sorrow, we lean on what’s familiar and what feels right. We take comfort in traditions that our parents set, that their parents taught them and that their parents brought from overseas. These conventions are what our families' early immigrants carried to the new land,  to have a little remembrance of home. The Danish brought us cookies, the Germans, wreaths, and mulled wines. Our Italian ancestors brought us caroling, the feast of the seven fishes, Tombola and La Befana. Adele A. Knight (nee Marra) wholeheartedly invested in her family, her Italian culture, and the traditions that connected the generations. She was a dedicated family woman and the centerpiece of the family. To the world, Adele, you were just a mother. To your family, you were our world. On Tuesday, October 24, 2022, we learned how terrible it was to love something death can touch. After 81 years, his tender lips kissed her goodnight at Virtua Hospital in Voorhees. One day we will know how lucky we were to have known her love with wonder, not grief. Adele was born in our nation’s cradle and spent her formative years in south Phila. It was here, in the shadow of the stadiums where she developed a lifelong love for our, now undefeated, “Iggles” and our National League Champion Phillies! Her marriage and the Air Force took her to Panama City, FL where she spent her early years and began her family. During the mid-’60s, she and her family returned to Berlin, NJ  where she embraced her faith at St. Simon Stock Parish and joined the 4th generation of the Knight Family Funeral Home. Adele was a career homemaker who, most of all, lived for and loved family and friends. She enjoyed pushing her feet into the beach’s warm sand, annual vacations in Aruba, and tempting lady luck at the casinos. At home, she enjoyed losing herself in a good book, surrounding herself with good friends in the Bel-Air group, and with her lifelong and dearest friends (the late) Dolores & her widower William Tierno, Marian & Lou Lacatina.  We all take life for granted until we learn it has an end. But, the goal isn’t to live forever but to create something that will.  Adele is the daughter of the late Peter & his late wife Nancy (Nee DiDonato) Marra. She was predeceased by her late husband, James Knight, Jr. The generations that will cherish her memory and carry her traditions are; her children; James, III & his wife Jeni, Peter W. & his wife Jen, and Sean & his wife Renee Knight. She is the proud grandmother of; Alexa, Zach, James, IV, and Ryan. Adele is the sister of Joseph & his late wife Marie Marra. She is also survived and will be sadly missed by her niece and nephew; Joseph Marra (Bonnie) and Nancy Guerrrera (Donnie).  Relatives, friends, and neighbors are invited to gather with the Knight family. We’ll come together in tribute on Monday morning between 9:00 am and 11:00 am at St. Simon Stock Parish 178 W. White Horse Pike, Berlin where a Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am. A graveside tribute and the witness of love’s reunion will immediately follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Berlin.
