Charles Allen Powell Obituary

Charles Alan “Al” Powell passed peacefully on April 3, 2020 after a long illness. Al was born in Maple Shade, NJ and lived most of his life in West Berlin, NJ until retiring to Ormond Beach, FL in 1999. He had recently returned to West Berlin to be with his family. He was a truck driver for most of his life, working for several companies, but retired from the Philadelphia Inquirer. He was predeceased by his wife, Janet (nee Berghaier) and survived by his daughter Janet Lee (Matt) Robinson and his son, Alan (Jennifer). He had four grandchildren that he adored, Matthew (Jamie), David (Jenni), Stephanie, and Danielle. He was an avid golfer and bowler. He was a member of the Lindenwold Moose Lodge 548 where he enjoyed spending his free time. Due to the Covid-19 virus his service was limited to only 10 people but there will be a celebration of his life at a later date when gatherings are permitted. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in his name to the Voorhees Animal Orphanage 419 Cooper Rd. Voorhees, NJ 08043.
