Christopher Amis Adams, LTC Retired, U.S. Army, passed away at 10:38 pm Sunday night, August 25, 2013, at home in Blue Anchor, NJ, due to complications of advance stages of Multiple Sclerosis. LTC Adams, born on December 3, 1947, in Pasadena, CA, was 65. He was the youngest son of COL (Ret) Lorenzo Dow Adams of Georgia and Ellen Ann (April) Amis Adams of Alabama, both deceased. He met his wife, Carol West Adams of Virginia Beach, VA, while attending Virginia Tech and she attending the then named Radford College. They married in Sparta, NC, on May 18, 1968 and were married for 45 years. He is survived by his wife of Blue Anchor, NJ; his two children April Alethia Adams Reynolds (Craig Steven) of Blue Anchor, NJ, and Christopher (Chad) Amis Adams II of Indianapolis, IN; and his two grandchildren Craig Steven Reynolds II and Christopher Bowen Reynolds, both of Blue Anchor, NJ. He is also survived by his two brothers Peter Dow Adams (Donna Crivello) of Baltimore, MD, and Timothy Dow Adams (Gail Galloway) of Georgetown, TX, and by 9 nieces and nephews, 9 great nieces and nephews, and a great great niece and nephew. LTC Adams was an Army brat until his dad retired and settled the family in Reston, VA. LTC Adams was a 1966 graduate of McLean High School and 1970 graduate of Virginia Tech. After graduating college, he joined the U.S. Army with an Officer Candidate School (OCS) option June 23, 1970 and began his service career as a U.S. Army Signal Officer on May 27, 1971. He and his family enjoyed two tours in Germany (Aschenffenburg, Bremerhaven, and Mannheim) and tours at Ft Bragg, NC, where he became airborne qualified; Ft Hood, TX; Ft Gordon, GA; Ft Devens, MA; Ft Benning, GA; MacDill AFB, FL; Armed Forces Staff College in Norfolk, VA; ending his career with the White House Communications Agency providing communication's support to Pres. Reagan for 4 years and Pres. George H.W. Bush for 1 year earning him the Presidential Service Badge and then serving for 1 year with the National Military Command System. LTC Adams was medically retired after 21 years of service on July 26, 1991. After living 8 years in Montclair, VA, near Woodbridge, he and his wife moved to Indianapolis where they lived for 13 years. They then bought a home in Blue Anchor, NJ, into which they moved fall of 2005. After 34 years of living with MS, he lost his battle to this disease on the evening of August 25, 2013, surrounded by his wife Carol, his daughter April, his son Chad, his son-in-law Craig, and his grandsons Craig and Bowen. LTC Adams' will be laid to rest on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at 3:00pm in Arlington National Cemetery with full Military Honors. Guests should arrive at the Administration Building by 2:30pm. All are invited to attend an after Funeral Dinner at the Fort Myes Officers Club from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. Interested parties are invited to leave their messages and stories of remembrance. "For if you always think of me, I will never be gone."
