James F. DeHart of Berlin NJ passed peacefully at home on April 4th, 2026.
Preceded in death by parents Howard and Gertrude (Moeller),Sister Betty Jane Kenna (Bob) of West Chester ,and son Thomas H. of Berlin. Survived by his wife Shirley (nee) McClafferty. 3 children, Judith Mellul (Dan) of Berlin, James (Mary Anne) of Hammonton, David (Jackie) of Pennsauken. Grandchildren James (Jen), Jennifer (Brian), Michael (Jenna), Danielle Johnson (Rob), Davina Girouard (Joe), Aaron Mellul (Desierre). Great grands Tyler (Megan), James (Maddie), Jared, Landon,
Layla, Dulton, Gabriella, Cora, Castiel. Great Great grands, Maple, Louella.
Jim grew up in Pittsburgh, Pa. From high school he enlisted in the Army Air Force, and served in Japan. After his honerable discharge he attended and graduated Duquesne University in 3 years with bachelor's degree in business. His career began as an accountant for PPG, in downtown Pittsburgh. His job transferred him to Circleville, OH, Salem, OH, Middletown, CT. and finally to Berlin NJ, each time packing his family and moving. Jim's best days at work though, we're at his and Shirley's side business, selling everything and anything at the Berlin Farmers Market.
His favorite times were spent with family. He always loved watching his Steelers, Pirates, Eagles, and Phillies. Some of his favorite pastimes were going to the casinos and always scratching lotteries.
He will be sadly missed for his kind and gentle demeanor.
Funeral services will be held at Knight Funeral Home Thursday 10:30am, April 9th where family and friends may call 9:30am. Interment Berlin Cemetery with Military Honors.
