Sebastian “Sam” Burkhart Jr.

1929 – 2025

Sebastian Burkhart Jr., affectionately known as “Sam” or “Junior” to many, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025, at the age of 96, surrounded by his loving family.

Born and raised in Berlin, New Jersey, Sebastian spent much of his life in Clementon before later residing in Franklinville. A lifelong farmer, Sebastian found purpose and pride in working the fields and caring for the land that sustained his family for generations.

Known for his tireless work ethic, humble nature, and quiet strength, Sebastian taught everyone around him the value of hard work and dedication. When he wasn’t tending to the farm, he enjoyed watching country westerns and bull riding, always drawn to the cowboy way of life and its spirit of independence.

Sebastian shared a special bond with his dogs, who were constant companions throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his loyal Sheba 1, Sheba 2, Sheba 3, and Sheba 4, and is survived by his beloved dog Mica, who remained faithfully by his side.

Sebastian is also survived by his beloved sister Doris, and her children Diane, Cindy, and Kenny; his children Joeann, Gail and her husband Tim, Keith and his wife Marla, and James; and his grandchildren Michael (son of Joeann), Tim and Brian (sons of Gail and Tim), Keith and Dani (children of Keith and Marla), Christine, Sheri, and Thomas (children of his late daughter Debra), and James Jr. (son of James). He is further survived by numerous great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren, who continue his proud legacy.

He will be remembered for his devotion to the farm, his love of family, and the lessons he quietly passed down through generations.
