Obituary of Joan M. Simmons

Joan M Simmons, age 84 of Williamstown, NJ died on September 19, 2018 at the Genesis center in Williamstown with her loving family by her side.  Joan was born in Halstead, PA on October 13, 1933 – daughter of the late Fred and Lula May Michaelis (nee Welsh).   She is pre-deceased by her husband, Donald Simmons, 3 sisters (Edna Gaunt, Phyllis O'Brien, and Claire (Tootie) Ollinger), brother (Herman (Bud) Michaelis), and son-in-law (Brian Meyers).   She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Donna and Mark Eighmey, Linda and Bob Wilson, and Laurie Simmons.  She is also survived by 10 grandchildren (Amy and Brian Rovani, Bob and Jill Wilson, Brenda Hancock, Randie and Raun Lynch, Rich and Jenn Wilson, Don Meyers, Mark Eighmey Jr, Adam Eighmey and Mary Conover, Samantha Meyers and Kyle Morgenweck, and Christine Meyers), and 11 great-grandchildren (Lyndsey and Owen Wilson, Averie, Joshua, and Emily Lynch, Richie and Grace Wilson, Hayden and Lincoln Rovani, Melissa Eighmey, and Brooke Eighmey). 

Joan was a lifelong member of the Berlin Baptist Church, loved to crochet and do jigsaw puzzles.  She was an avid gardener and was always up for a road trip.  She was funny, spunky, and kind.  She will be remembered as a loving mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  The family would like to thank all of Joan's caregivers over the years. 

Family and friends are invited to attend the services on Monday, September 24, 2018 at Knight Funeral Home 14 Rich Avenue, Berlin, NJ.  Visitation will start at 9:30am, with services at 10:00am.  Burial will immediately follow at Berlin Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joan's name to the Alzheimer's Foundation, Heartland Hospice, or Meadow View Nursing Center.
