GEORGE E. MERVINE, JR. (Murphy), 84 On July 11, 2016, with his family members at his side. Born in Philadelphia, Pa, December 17, 1931. He resided in Berlin for 58 years. Murphy was employed as a printer for Jenkins Printing in Gloucester City, NJ before retiring in 2010. He served in the US Navy aboard the USS Gordius stationed in Greenland. He is also a Penn Relay High School Champion winning the Middle Distance Medley in 1949, as well as numerous other high school track and field awards. Murphy belonged to the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Men’s Association and was a long-time volunteer with the Berlin Athletic Association serving as a manager for several Little League Baseball and Softball teams. He is an avid Eagles and Notre Dame fan. Murphy is pre-deceased by his loving wife Emma (nee Buckley) 8 years earlier to the day (July 11, 2008); his loving son Thomas Kirk, and grandchildren Alaina and Raymond. He is survived by his children Bernedette Mervine and Christine Hall of Berlin, NJ; Madonna Caraballo of Paterson, NJ; George and his wife Eileen of Brielle, NJ; and Steven and his wife Cheryl of Clarksboro, NJ. Murphy is also survived by 11 grandchildren; Tami, Timothy, Blair, Matthew, Taylor, Laura, Christopher, Kelley, Mackenzie, Brandon, and Phoebe; and 3 great grandchildren, Angelina, Dominika, and Timothy. Murphy is also survived by his 5 loving sisters; Betty Hillman, Catherine Mervine, Mary Heins, Gerry Davis and Theresa Hillman and many nephews and nieces. He also leaves his cherished family pup also named “Murphy”. Services are arranged through the Knight Funeral Home of Berlin. Family and friends may gather at St. Simon Stock Parish, 178 W White Horse Pike, Berlin, NJ on Tuesday July 19, 2016 at 9:30am, with a Mass of Christian burial to follow.
